Wisdom needed for troubled times
In these troubled times the voices are loud and confusing at best. Even in the church there are conflicting voices. Is it any surprise? The god of this age chooses to conquer and divide, weakening us into foolish arguments and petty conflicts. We become so embroiled in disagreements that we forget to pray, and to bring down strength in the heavenly realm. Wisdom is sorely missing because we have forsaken her for worldly confidence and construct. And it shows in the lukewarm character of some churches, and some Christians.
Here are some poetic thoughts based on Proverbs:
Listen and heed instruction well
and do not let the wayward teach you
Their path is treachery and with them
disaster will come to reach you.
The fool he dances, laughs and prances
his folly can be seen by all
As light is shed he’s no where found
when Wisdom comes around to call.
What can a fool give, or what will he
plotting, planning, self-appointed
master of disaster is he,
Mock he may, his days are numbered.
Our lady Wisdom calls aloud
she makes her voice well clear.
She is not hidden nor a mystery,
and speaks to all who hear.
Her sisters discipline and prudence
walk in step beside her
The wise are drawn and glad to follow
but the simple can’t abide her.
A fool who turns to Wisdom has found
a lover gentle and caring
she longs for him and woos him sweetly
secure and safe shall be their dwelling.
But him whose heart mocks, mocks not only
Lady Wisdom and her sisters
With no discretion he has rejected
the highest King of All eternal
Then let him dance, if you dance with him
watch your steps or you will follow
Foolish folly fancies himself wise
but in the end, the grave does swallow.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Seeking what God thinks about the world and what is happening is key to gaining understanding and wisdom. He knows what is going on, and he is aware of our needs in all of it. But we must search out knowledge through his Word and through prayer. We must also be willing to stand in such troubled times for what is right and what is good and what is true. That is how we will prosper and how we will overcome.
Two more thoughts from Isaiah
But the noble man makes noble plans and by his noble deeds he stands. Isaiah 32:8 NIV
The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert, his righteousness live in the fertile field.
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
Isaiah 32:16-18 NIV
My wish and my prayer for you is that you would find peace and seek wisdom in such troubled times as these. And above all that you would find it.
